01 Dec 08 Check out the Samsung P3 in Action!

Last year, the P2 was a pleasant surprise from Samsung. The touchscreen player offered both style, and substance with its attractive interface and its summation of great features. Come January, at CES 2009, Samsung will officially unveil the P3. The dimensions and the look of the P3 are nearly exact to its predecessor, but the body is completely aluminum this time around (rather than plastic), It features a haptic response 3.0" touchscreen, and will range in capacity from 4GB to 32GB. It also has support for the most popular audio and video codecs including ogg, FLAC, MPEG-4, and H.264. The most drastic changes appears to have been made to the GUI. Our friends at GenerationMP3 got their hands on a test model loaded with a beta firmware and were kind enough to provide this 13 minute video of the interface:

The interface features widgets that can be moved around and placed wherever you like. This is similar to various touchscreen phones on the market, including the Prada phone, and just recently the T-mobile G1. This customizable interface is filled with flash motion and looks quite vibrant . Samsung appears to have taken a safer approach with the P3, rather then trying to re-invent the wheel. It's a smart strategy for these economic times, but will picky consumers think its enough to win them over? Let me know if this upgrade is enough for you.
